    Our

    vision of social change

Social Change for us means a transformation of our cultural and social institutions in such a way that enables good governance, and rapid human and socio-economic development for all.

It is the change which, guarantees – gainful employment opportunities and improvement in living conditions for all; drastic reductions in poverty levels, infant and maternal mortality; increase in life expectancy, literacy levels, security of life and property; establish rule of law, respect for human rights and social justice for all; ensuring freedom of expression and genuine democratic rule based on equitable representation and free & fair elections.

It means developing institutions that will enable the unleashing of our enormous development potential in competing effectively and contributing our fair share within the global comity of nations.

    Our

    Core Areas of Focus

Our core areas of focus area Leadership & Governance, Local Economic & Community Development, Individual Empowerment & Development and Giving Voice Advocacy Campaign. See more details below.

    Leadership and Governance

The culture of corruption and abysmal leadership constitute the significant problems that have crippled the current Nigerian society. There is a strong contention that a fundamental restructuring of the Nigerian State is necessary to create a more enabling environment for accelerated development. Furthermore, governance and leadership failures, brazen corruption, looting of the national treasury and resource mismanagement have resulted in the current situation where Nigeria currently records the highest incidence of extreme poverty in the world. The Nigerian government is increasingly unable to provide or guarantee the security of lives and property in any part of the country. Related to this is the docile followership that has tolerated successive mediocre governments over the years. Nigerians seem to have developed an infinite capacity to condone impossible excesses of corrupt public office holders. This situation is unacceptable and underscores the urgent need for drastic change. Townhall Radio would seek to provide insights on how best to develop institutional structures and systems that will ensure better governance at all levels.

    Individual Empowerment & Development

We believe that the quality of the collective is rooted in the quality of the individual. We cannot significantly improve the quality of society without improving the quality of the individuals that make up society. No nation can begin to reach its potential without individuals being aware of their possibilities. Galvanising for social change necessarily requires a change in the mindset of critical mass. It requires individuals to grow and sharpen their development mindset towards the change they desire. Townhall Radio intends to promote a shift towards a “social change-oriented mindset” development for the critical mass of our people. We would lead talk shows that distil an extensive body of information and knowledge in the areas of mindset and personal growth and their linkages with developing a proactive followership culture that demands more from those in leadership.

    Local Economic & Community Development

Critical to overall social and economic development in Nigeria is the underlying challenges of stimulating local economic and community development at the local level. Unfortunately, in Nigeria, poor leadership and governance culture and its resultant decades of resource mismanagement have led to systemic failures and dysfunction of institutions and infrastructures that should have enabled economic development at the local level. Thus, exacerbating under-productivity at the local community level and under-performance of the local economy. Townhall Radio intends to contribute towards the reversal of this trend by promoting re-directing productive energies to boost local and community economic development. We will lead solution-driven talk shows to provide insights into how local economy and community development can be actively enabled and supported in different sectors. Such programmes would highlight best practices and successful experiences in other places that are relevant to the Nigerian

    Giving Voice Advocacy Campaign

Often an environment such as Nigeria that is rife with corruption, endemic poverty, social exclusion, discrimination, ethnic prejudice, marked inequality, lack of institutional protection, poor justice, and law and order delivery tends to encourage social injustice. As a result, flagrant abuse of power, denial of basic rights of individuals, intimidation and cultural impunity where the strong readily preys on the weak are all too common. Our radio platform would proactively seek to give voice to those who suffer injustice. It would seek to expose and shine a light on reported cases from Nigerians. It would also encourage intervention assistance to victims (where possible).
