Our
Campaign
Social injustice broadly refers to the denial of individual or collective rights, privileges or access to opportunities in education, health, infrastructure, politics, economy, religion, physical environment etc. It is often intrinsically tied to exploitations of conditions of poverty, venerability, exclusion, gender injustice, disenfranchisement, violence and oppression of individual(s) or group(s) with the society. Often an environment such as Nigeria that is rife with corruption, ethnic prejudice, marked inequality; weak institutional protection, poor justice, law and order delivery tends to exacerbate the culture of social injustice.
When gross abuse of power, denial of basic rights of individuals, intimidation and oppression are commonplace, the wider society increasingly becomes numb and insensitive to issues of injustice,
which further diminishes the ability and capacity to seek redress. At Townhall Radio, we believe broadly that injustice to one is an injustice to all. It is a worldview that rejects injustice irrespective of who and where. While we do not have a magic wand to wave away social injustice, we are committed to contributing as much as we can to the fight for fairness on the side of victims – the weak, poor and venerable. We will support and seek solidarity with individuals and groups that fight for social justice within the context of in our programmes. Furthermore, we intend to sustain a social justice campaign on our platform. The campaign will shine a light on reported cases from Nigerians. We shall expose, name and shame validated grave incidences and cases of clear miscarriage of justice, abuse of power etc. This effort will also aspire to provide victims intervention support through our Townhall Radio community (where possible). We solicited for your support and participation to our social justice advocacy campaign.
