#EndBadGovernance organisers plan another protest, ‘Fearless in October’
The organisers of the recently concluded #EndBadGovernanceinNigeria protest, which took place nationwide from August 1 to 10, 2024, have announced plans to stage another protest in October.
The Director of Mobilisation of the Take It Back Movement, Damilare Adenola, confirmed the planned protests, stating that the protesters’ demands would remain the same unless there were new issues that required additional demands.
“Yes. It is called the ‘Fearless in October Protest’. Our charter of demands stands as same. If at all, we will add more as the country decays more,” Adenola said.
Recall that youths across the country had staged the #EndBadGovernance protests nationwide, including the Federal Capital Territory, despite efforts by government officials urging youths to shun the protests.
The protesters had submitted a list of demands, including scrapping the Senate arm of the National Assembly, making law-making a part-time job for the House of Representatives, increasing the minimum wage to N250,000, reversing fuel prices and electricity tariffs to pre-January 2023 levels, and releasing and compensating all EndSARS and political detainees.
Adenola also confirmed that they will not comply with court orders from state governments requiring them to hold demonstrations at designated points, saying, “We won’t accept the compliance.”
