IPMAN, Dangote Refinery agree on direct supply of petroleum products
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has finalized an agreement with Dangote Refinery to directly source petroleum products, including petrol, diesel, and kerosene.
This development, announced on Monday by IPMAN’s National President, Abubakar Garima, marks a significant step toward ensuring a stable and affordable supply of fuel across the country.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, Garima revealed that the agreement follows a productive meeting between IPMAN leadership and Dangote Refinery executives in Lagos.
“After meeting with Aliko Dangote and his management team, we are pleased to announce that Dangote Refinery has agreed to supply IPMAN with PMS, AGO, and DPK directly for distribution to our depots and retail outlets,” Garima said.
The partnership aims to enhance the efficiency of fuel distribution in Nigeria, reduce operational costs, and strengthen the nation’s foreign exchange reserves through increased reliance on local refineries. Garima emphasized that the move aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s agenda to revitalize the Nigerian economy. “IPMAN members should rely on Dangote Refinery and Nigerian refineries for white products, creating more job opportunities and supporting President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda,” he urged.
This agreement follows months of negotiations and is expected to significantly improve the availability of fuel, while minimizing the influence of intermediaries in the supply chain.
Dangote Refinery, the largest of its kind in Africa and Europe, has already begun producing petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel. It plans to distribute these products to over 30,000 IPMAN members and 150,000 retail outlets nationwide.
The deal is expected to foster economic growth by increasing access to essential petroleum products, ensuring fair pricing, and boosting local production capacity.
