Ohanaeze mourns Nwabueze

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has expressed shock over the death of the foremost constitutional lawyer and first Secretary General of the body, Prof. Ben Nwabueze.

Describing the news of his death as devastating, the President-General of the Igbo apex body, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, said he could not withhold his sorrow especially when the Igbo have lost in a close sequence, the former leaders of Ohanaeze; namely Prof. George Obiozor, Prof. Joe Irukwu and now Nwabueze.

Iwuanyanwu, in the statement issued through the National Publicity Secretary Ohanaeze, Dr. Alex Ogbonnia, said Nwabueze will remain a veritable source of inspiration to the generations yet unborn.

The late Nwabueze, who was a former Minister of Education, died on Sunday in his country home in Atani, Anambra State.

The numerous books and articles by Nwabueze on constitutionalism stand him out as an intellectual genius.
